listen to the rain mix
into the strain
of music
.
this new- that goes
against the old
pounding rhythm
drum beat
heart beat
chop beat
half beat whole beet
eat beets!

eat and fill yourself
stuffing full of music and
purple rhythm, like a bird
one human turkey stuffed with
tempo

this Fat bird
lying here stuffed and waiting
to be plucked and
scalded

can't move away
there is only sound
pulsing in weird times
like American Berserk

and Americana coffee is in the veins-
like vines moving
you are addictive//addicted
united caffeine states
moving always
stuffed chock full
and moving
twitching
pinned to the wall
listening to the
rhythms work against each
other inside

the music is still mixing
with rain drugs
leaving no room
for anything but.

only a strange beat
rhythm fighting
keeping tempo
and here we are
going mad
screaming out silence
because you are afraid
to stop the rhythm
because music is
going. going. gone.

soon only

drip.
drip.

of rain without
rhythm

Author's Comments

I was listening to John Adams. That should explain just about everything...and if you don't know who he is..listen to a clip from American Berserk on itunes.

that might sum up the insanity

i read it out loud (i always do that when reading poetry) and you actually go faster-slower, unintentionally.
you get cool points for that (;
